On 5 March 2008, New Zealand Post issued stamps as a contribution to the International Year of Planet Earth: First Day Cover (pdf) Limited Edition Souvenir Cover. NZ Post chose the theme of Climate Change, and then decided to issue a set of six stamps on Extreme Weather in New Zealand.
