Hungary

On 10 July, 2008, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences officially announced that – on the occasion of the International Year of Planet Earth, on the proposal of the IYPE NC for Hungary – the title of the Hungarian Feast of Science (in Hungarian: ‘Tudomány Ünnepe’, in French: Fête de la Science) in 2008 will be ‘The science for the habitable Earth’.
Between 3-30 November a lot of scientific and popular science events will be held throughout the whole country. (3 November, 1828 was the birthday of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.) Both József Pálinkás, the new President and Tamás Németh, the new Secretary General of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences are great IYPE supporters: Pálinkás had already given a speech about IYPE in the Hungarian Parliament, and both attended the IYPE Launch Event in Budapest.

Details about the Hungarian Feast of Science can be found at www.mta.hu (in Hungarian language; the English version is in progress).
